Smoking Through The Years
Moving to a dormitory with no one else to keep an eye on you but yourself sure had its advantages, based on my experience going to college in a different city, but it also had been quite unpleasant in many ways. That was the first time I’m free to do everything I want, and I certainly have done a lot of things that I didn’t want my parents to know. Cigarette smoking had been one of them, but now that I’m old enough to take care of a very nice looking 2 year old child and a beautiful wife, they could care less.

Back in my high school days, an overnight spent in one of my friend’s house led to my first cigarette smoking experience. Only one of my friends knew how to smoke then, but almost all of them are already smokers today. Because of my curiosity, he easily convinced me to try smoking a cigarette. There had not been any hesitations on my part, and neither in him, so he quickly gave me a cigarette stick to start with, but he lit it up for me since I never really had any experience in smoking.

He told me that once I puffed, I should inhale the smoke given by the cigarette. I didn’t do what he told me to. I just took a quick puff and released the huge volume of smoke that I had in my mouth after puffing the cigarette. It sure didn’t taste appealing in any way, but I was a bit amazed at myself that time because of the smoke I produced. I did eventually learn how to smoke the right way. Of course, a few coughs followed, as well as some feelings of nausea and dizziness.

In my college years, I did smoke a whole lot of cigarettes, like around a pack a day or so. I didn’t mind it since my body was young and very healthy, but I did experience severe coughing along with liquid-y phlegm stuck in my lungs. That was the only time I did reduce my cigarette consumption to around 3 a day.

I don’t know if my lungs are still as health as before, though I’m doubtful that they still are, but I’m now using an electronic cigarette, and I somehow feel a little more healthier, especially when I wake up in a cough-less morning.
